Creepwave was a European Dota 2 team founded to compete in the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit.
In early-2021, Fishman and Crystallis, then on B8, chose to leave and form their own team after the B8 struggled (B8 going on to lose 26 series in a row). The team’s name was «Creepwave», formed from a rant by RAMZES666 about Fishman’s performance in a pub:

Stay mid! Are you a douche? Come and f***ing stay with me, Fishman! You are f***ing playing 20 matches a day for f***ing what? Why? Can you explain it to me? You’re a f***ing creep, creepling. There’s no point in playing 20 games of Dota a day if you’re a d***head. There’s no point, you know?
Ahead of the next season of the Dota Pro Circuit, the roster once again split up. In late-2021, OG signed hansha, ATF and Chu (as a coach). Creepwave replaced them with Stormstormer, Tobi and Suzuya; this reformed roster was then signed by Entity. Both teams would go on to establish themselves as firm Division I teams in Western Europe, with both sets of players forming the backbone of these teams. Several of these players would go on to achieve notable placements at top-tier events.
At DreamLeague Season 21, ATF (then playing for Nigma Galaxy) played for Entity as a standin for Gabbi, who was unable to play due to visa issues, creating a team of four former Creepwave players (plus watson). Later, fellow Creepwave alumni Malr1ne (then playing for Nemiga Gaming) played as a substitute in the playoffs.
Looking back at the old Creepwave team, it consisted of some of the most talented players that the Dota 2 world has today, in the likes of Bozhidar «bzm» Bogdanov and Evgenii «Chu» Makarov at OG, Remco «Crystallis» Arets, who currently plays for Team Secret, and four members of the current Entity squad in Daniel «Stormstormer» Schoetzau, Tobias «Tobi» Buchner, Dzmitry «Fishman» Palishchuk, and Vladislav «Kataomi`» Semenov. The team had good results, winning the Dota 2 Champions League Season 4, which was one of the events that put the players in the spotlight and led to them being picked up by Tier 1 teams.
Creepwave frequently fielded rosters of promising players that were not yet established. Although Creepwave itself achieved limited success, many of Creepwave’s players would go on to establish themselves elsewhere, forming the backbone of several Western European and Middle Eastern teams, making Creepwave’s alumni one of the most notable, despite the team’s relatively-short lifespan.
Notable alumni include:
- Crystallis joined Team Secret, and became runner-up of The International 2022, placed 3rd at BetBoom Dacha 2023, and winner of ESL One Malaysia 2022.
- ATF (formerly known as «AMMAR_THE_FUCKER»), bzm (formerly known as «hansha») and Chu (as coach) joined OG and placed highly in multiple ESL One and Dota Pro Circuit events, establishing the roster as one of the strongest in Western Europe.
- Malr1ne and ATF joined Team Falcons in 2023, creating one of the strongest rosters worldwide in ESL Pro Tour Season 2, winning DreamLeague Season 22, Season 23, and ESL One Birmingham 2024.
- Fishman, Kataomi` (formerly known as «Suzuya») and coach MeTTpuM helped establish Entity as a solid Western European squad, and placed top-6 at multiple international events.

Creepwave is a legendary tag. I think that if we would want to make such an organization in the future, we can easily find sponsors and partners, because so many good players appeared thanks to Creepwave. In general the backbone of Creepwave is myself, Crystallis and ATF. We’re good friends, and had a lot of fun in Dota. We just added guys to our team at different times: Malr1ne, Kataomi`, Chuvash — all from there. We even have a chatroom in Discord, where we still communicate and discuss Dota.

“This system 100% will be best for every pro player”
One of the tools video game players use to refine their strategies and coordination is a practice known as «scrims.» Scrims, short for «scrimmages,» play a crucial role in the preparation and development of esports teams. In this article, we will delve into the concept of scrims in video games, exploring what they are, why they are essential, and how they contribute to the success of competitive gaming.
Now, scrims refer to practice matches or games played by esports teams against other skilled opponents. These practice matches are not for public viewing and are not part of official competitions. Instead, they serve as a controlled and competitive environment where teams can fine-tune their strategies, improve their communication, and refine their skills.
Scrims are essentially a form of training that allows teams to test new tactics, experiment with different compositions, and assess their strengths and weaknesses without the pressure of tournament play.
Key Characteristics of Scrims
So, how do you recognize what a scrim is? How do you differentiate between a scrim and a regular match? Well, there are a couple of key characteristics of scrims:
Private Matches
Scrims are typically not broadcasted to the public. Instead, they are private sessions where teams can focus on their gameplay without distractions or external scrutiny. This privacy enables players to feel more relaxed and open to trying new things.
Structured Practice
Realistic Gameplay
Scrims aim to replicate the intensity and competitiveness of actual matches. Teams play to win, and the outcomes of scrims are taken seriously, even though they do not affect a team’s official record.
Communication and Teamwork
Effective communication and teamwork are the cornerstones of successful scrims. Teams use scrims to enhance their coordination, strategize, and refine their in-game calls.
Why Are Scrims Essential?
Now that you know how to identify scrims, you might be wondering why scrims are even important, right? Well, you might be surprised by just how many advantages scrims can potentially have, especially for players looking to play competitive matches.
Skill Development
Scrims provide a controlled environment for players to practice and refine their skills. This includes aiming, positioning, and decision-making. The repeated exposure to high-level competition in scrims can help players improve rapidly.
Strategy and Tactics
Teams use scrims to experiment with new strategies and tactics. They can adapt to evolving metagames, develop counter-strategies, and refine their game plans.
Team Bonding
Scrims allow team members to build stronger bonds and understanding. Developing trust and synergy among teammates is essential for success in esports, and scrims contribute significantly to this process.
Scouting Opponents
Teams use scrims not only to improve themselves but also to study their opponents. By playing against other teams in scrims, they can gather valuable insights into the strengths and weaknesses of their rivals.
