This time, MC broke into ESL One Berlin Major 2023 as a replacement for OG due to the fact that DM did not receive a visa. Every time at such tournaments, the Bulgarian suddenly blossoms. So this time Ivanov found a second youth.

Basically Unknown.

Team Liquid.

LGD. Forever Young.

5jungz. After winning the Alienware Summer’s End Cup, the team was signed to a contract under Team Liquid.

Although they missed The Frankfurt Major, Mind_Control and his team qualified for The Shanghai Major 2016 where they reached the final but lost to Team Secret. At The Manila Major 2016, Team Liquid again took second place, losing to OG. At The International 2016, the team from Europe was the favorite, but took only 7-8th place. The next season, MinD_ContRoL and his team did not attend The Boston Major 2016, but successfully qualified for The Kiev Major 2017 and took 5th-8th place. They also qualified for The International 2017 by winning the EPICENTER tournament and became champions. At the world championship, the team took first place, and MinD_ContRoL proved to be the best offlaner in the world. His hero Nature’s Prophet became a permanent no-go area for the next six months. The team was at the top of the tier-1 tournaments throughout the 2017-2018 season, taking silver at DreamLeague Season 8 and EPICENTER XL, as well as gold at China Dota2 Supermajor. Thanks to the new DPC ranking system, the team directly qualified for The International 2018, where they finished 4th. The following season, the team received silver at the MDL Disneyland Paris Major and EPICENTER Major 2019, which allowed them to directly qualify for The International 2019. At the World Championship, MinD_ContRoL and the team lost in the final to OG with a score of 1:3.

After the World Championship, the players and the club’s management could not agree on contractual terms, and the entire team left Team Liquid, creating a new organization called Team Nigma. Having missed part of the 2019-2020 season, the team qualified for DreamLeague Season 13: The Leipzig Major thanks to the victory at the WePlay! Bukovel Minor 2020. At the big tournament, the team took 7-8th place. Before the start of the «online era», Team Nigma was able to win one of the last offline tournaments in 2020, which was called WePlay! Dota 2 Tug of War: Mad Moon. Due to the outbreak of the pandemic, MinD_ContRoL and his friends disappointed many fans by winning only OGA Dota PIT Season 2: EU/CIS in nine months. In the new DPC season, the team qualified for the Wild Card stage ONE Esports Singapore Major 2021.

At the major in Berlin, MC just shines

It’s hard to imagine what a thrill a player feels when he returns to a major after a long period on the tier-2 scene. But you look at MC. During pauses, he massages the young bzm, and a smile does not leave his face.

Borislavov generally enjoys fooling around on camera — for example, he beats his nickname on Yuragi. This, in turn, pleases the fans.

But the MC shines even more in the lobby. Ivanov played an exemplary game on the first map with Spirit. He initiated well on Earth Shaker and did not allow the «dragons» to consolidate the advantage.

OG took the first map without any problems. The start of the second one was also successful: MC and Taiga took Yatoro on Lancer in the lane, but then lost several ganks and didn’t realize their draft.

In the rest of the matches, the Bulgarian played on less prominent characters like Underlord, but even there he clearly played his role. According to the results of two days of the Major, he takes the third place among all offlaners and 12th among all players of the KDA tournament. Not bad for a lower division player, right?

This has happened before. Then the team with MC flew into the top 4

Do you remember how MC stood for Ninjas in Pajamas? It happened in 2018 at The Kuala Lumpur Major. Then Neta «33» Shapira failed to get into the tournament: Israeli citizens are restricted from entering Malaysia due to the lack of diplomatic relations between the countries. Therefore, Ivanov, who played for Liquid, was called in as a replacement (his team did not qualify for the tournament, just like this time).

Back then NiP couldn’t boast of outstanding results. At the ESL One Hamburg event preceding the Major, the team took the penultimate place, and the replacement in the face of the fading MC did not inspire optimism. But the offlaner helped NiP reach the top 4 in Kuala Lumpur and earn 1350 DPC points — this is the best result for the entire existence of the club.
